PUBLIC FOR A REASON

Public For A Reason

A healthy community needs a healthy public service.

We believe every Calgary resident deserves access to quality of life, equality and the opportunity to prosper because we are Calgarians.

Every Calgary community should be accessible to its residents so they may have the ability to participate in and contribute to its development.

As the people delivering services that keep you safe and healthy, CUPE workers are accountable to you and your communities.

We value equity and unity.

None of this happens without a strong public service administered by the public.

In spite of everything thrown at Calgary in the last five years including a pandemic, our population grew 1.9% between July 2019 and July 2020. We’re still the place to be because we’ve always believed in access, ability and accountability for everyone. Community-first thinking in action.

CUPE keeps our communities clean and safe.

From our parks and rivers to our libraries and zoo, we are privileged to have a clean and vibrant city to live. Protecting these resources has never been more important. The issues we face today such as the economic downturn, global pandemic and environmental are greater challenges than we’ve ever faced before. But we’re Calgary strong, we come together in the face of storms and floods, fires and drought and through it all we’ve maintained this City to keep our water clean and our parks green. Mow more than ever we have to ensure we continue to maintain these beloved public services and keep the city’s public spaces and facilities as vibrant as ever before.
